Day Fourteen

This was extremely difficult.  For one, fogging up a mirror and not fogging a lens is nearly impossible.  For two, trying to position yourself right in a mirror when the camera is off to the side and make sure you're in the frame is really hard.  For three, the focus on yourself (again my 50mm no af on my cam).  I got lucky on that last one.

My bathroom walls are actually cream colored, yet somehow they came out (in my favor for matching my gallery) blue tinted.

  1. Cheers to you for your effort on this one, I can only imagine the technicalities involved......and may I say you have the most beautiful eyes?

  2. I really like the expression, great shot. And way better without the towel bar!

  5. Another awesome portrait with half your face obscured! (Maybe the walls look bluer because of the mirror glass? You know how the edges of mirrors and other thick sheets of glass look bluish-green; glass mirrors often tint what they reflect ever so slightly more bluish or greenish. Of course that doesn't explain the wall to the left of the mirror...) The washcloth being aqua-blue instead of white really helps the flow of the composition, I think.

I was just taking an in-the-mirror shot the other day to get a particular lighting effect, and oy, was it tricky -- even without steam to contend with! Hopefully you managed yours in fewer takes than I needed for mine. ;)

  9. Your lighting must be a different colouring to your flash? Did you use flash? Great job dealing with the steam and a self-portrait. I have tried this before in the shower, and had to bring in the camera at the last minute to stop the foggin effect. You did a fantastic job getting that one eye sharp as well as the great DoF onto your fuzzy hand. Worth the effort!
